All American Soap Box Derby
Soap Box Derby Racing is for kid’s ages 8-17 years of age. The Marietta Kiwanis Club realized the positive impact Soap Box Derby Racing has on preparing kids for a great future and brought Derby Racing back to Cobb County in 2004. The Derby brings families and kids together and provides a fun and free activity for our community to enjoy each summer.
All kids aren't mentally or physically equipped to succeed in traditional sports like soccer, hockey, basketball, baseball, football or Lacrosse etc. and Soap Box Derby racing provides a safe venue for kids, regardless of financial means, social status, race, color, religion, athletic ability or with physical or mental limitations to participate in a fun competitive sporting event.
The Soap Box Derby develops character in these young kids and the experience builds their self-confidence, fosters self-motivation and engages families and communities in an American past time.
Derby racing affords families the opportunity to spend quality time together and kids the opportunity to learn teamwork, sportsmanship, fair play, cooperation, perseverance, leadership, construction skills and how to follow directions and play by the rules.
The derby is fun and we encourage you to get involved in the local derby as a volunteer, participant, spectator or sponsor. It our Kids, our Community and our Responsibility.
